Now that I wear eyeglasses...

I never realized I had a BLURRY VISION all these years. Not until yesterday when I decided to have my own eyeglasses. (Thank God for bonuses!!!I needed glasses all along since I work with my Q-laptop more than anyone is supposed to in a day)

While driving with my eyeglasses on, I got stuck in traffic for few minutes. I looked at a billboard few meters away. For no reason I took off my glasses, put it back on, took it off again. There was a big difference. Without my eyeglasses on, the billboard letters and image were blurry, like 20-30% blurry(thanks to Photoshop I know how it looks). I put it back on: "Now this is a clear vision!"

All these years I had a blurry vision and I didn't know, not even a hint. This set of eyeglasses I have is like a REINFORCEMENT VISION--something to add up to what I have.

Lessons from the worm's eye-view:
A lot of people have a blurry vision for their lives. Sad fact is that they don't realize it at all. Most of the time, it takes someone else to put on EYEGLASSES to them, someone to put on a REINFORCEMENT VISION to get them fired up for something more purposeful and worth living for.

For the past days I have been doing this with the young guys we have in the campus ministry. They think they're good for something small. So most of them care less about deciding on some unwise stuffs. I had to tell them that they're NOT GOOD FOR ONLY NOTHING! They're good for SOMETHING BETTER. That God has prepared THOUSANDS of GUYS for them to INFLUENCE! It's a vision I have to instill in them to fire them up. Well I trust God it works for them.

Got my eyewear at Ideal Vision in LimKetkai Center, Cagayan De Oro... They sell affordable, quality eyewears. Mine is Giordano. The mall has a lot of optical clinics.

Pero if you're a tourist/vacationer coming to Cagayan De Oro, you'll surely enjoy the cabs here. We have the best cabs in the whole of the Philippines...Kia is not a pride here...Avanza, Altis, and the likes are.

Drivers in Cagayan De Oro aren't rude (at least for cabs).

Cagayan De Oro is losing the call center talents for the local call center industry.

This is a from a recent report in Philippine Daily Inquirer. Workers are said to have been flocking in Manila and Cebu. These are usually where former call center representatives in CDO go after getting themselves familiar with the work system here.

Let me put it simple here. Most people use the local call centers here as their training ground. After a while, they resign and get hired to a bigger company for a higher salary (what do you expect?).

There's nothing wrong with this. Anyone can take his/her own path. But this is something alarming to the local call center companies.

For those who don't have jobs and are planning to work at a call center here in Cagayan De Oro, this is ONE GREAT NEWS. Come to think of it! Arriba and Concentrix and all the other who knows there's such a company, will certainly be having a massive hiring campaign.

Gaisano Rung Ispeling

Grabe! They can afford to staff people to their mall (Gaisano Mall) but they can't afford to hire people who can put rightly spelled MOVIE TITLES... Check out these photos. It's a BIG TWIST she's making. And I am preparing my pocket to buy this book and see how it would actually go. The atheist has grown as a writer and went back to God indeed. (her new book is CALLED OUT OF DARKNESS: A spiritual confession)

We've yet to see. But I admire this woman. She now writes for the glory, not for thyself, not for thou, but for thy God.

Well a lot of my friends want to avail of this book. Gosh I hope it comes out in bookstores here in Cagayan De Oro. I haven't found books as unique as books in Fully Booked(and the likes) really in this locality. For vacationers, I love Cagayan De Oro but it's just not the place to find great, unique books (bookstores are not so 'place to go' here).

Pjoe's Diner is like one of the best restaurants in Cagayan De Oro. Fine dining at its cheapest I must say (if you're from Manila).

It was time for me to take Te Chyd, my visiting friend from Manila, to somewhere FINE (we're done with the BBQ style at Butcher's Best which shocked them for its very cheap prices).Some of their decors (nice).Waiter the new recruits of te Chyd, Mai and Krissy chuy!

WOW... just one of our delicious orders...Squid whatever...

When in Cagayan De Oro, make sure you go fine dining even just once. Worth it! Pjoe's Diner has its main branch at THE SITE, Limketkai Center. The Pjoe's Junior is at SM.

After more than a week of running the poll, here are the results for the FAVE COFFEE SHOP in CAGAYAN DE ORO.

Coffee WOrks - 33%
Gazebo Cafe - 16%
Bo's - 50% Taza - 50%
8/30 Cafe - 16%

Bo's Coffee Club and Taza Cafe tied in the 1st place while Coffee Works came 2nd. I still love Coffee Works. It's just a matter of taste so opinions would really vary.

No! We didn't weep like any book title (By the River Piedra she sat down and wept...). We went to Blue Rock along the Kagay-an River (in Cagayan De Oro), had lunch there, and took some vibrant photos (Yes vibrant because of the greens and browns). The best way to prove it is through these photos...

Kagay-an river, the white-water rafting route, can be a place of escape.
The cottages are for free at Blue Rock (for tourists or those in vacation). You just have to pay for the entrance fee which is at P30/per head. In front of the cottages is the wide whitewater river plus the long bridge in Cagayan De Oro City.

Sudden reunion @ Chaibodia Bistro Cafe/Bar

A Journpipz night turned out to be a DevCom sudden reunion for our batch. Me, my friend Mia, who took a leave from the stress of irrate callers in Cebu, along with Penny went to Chaibodia Bistro Cafe/Bar in Cagayan De Oro. Our friend Chai Buhay owns the place.

What can I say?
The place looks very promising. It reminded me of the artsy-fartsy restaurant I visited in Baguio which is located at the top floor of some building. It has a ZEN that seats more than 5 persons na relaxing gid! They've a 2nd floor at the back. Upon getting in, I thought the place was too small but Chai-chai showed me the place at the back. I was surprised to see more space for people. And I liked her bulletin board with my photo in one of our vacations (sa Kagahuman nga naa mi sa suba nangaligo).

The CALAMARES was really delightful. Most people go there for chilling and drinking with buddies. I've yet to try their food the SILOG style. Tapsilog, longsilog, and whatever silog.Anyone taking a tour or vacation in Cagayan De Oro must try visiting Chaibodia Bistro Cafe/Bar at some street near Vjandep shop. (the specific address to be posted sa comment)

Near Escape indeed is sweet

Whenever we feel like escaping from the Cagayan De Oro CITY PROPER atmosphere, we just directly go to these places of proximity.

1st on the list is VACANT LOT in Opol (where there are 3 or more beach resorts). A sweet escape (perhaps a 45-minute break from the city life) indeed since it's 10-15mins away from the city. It doesn't have the best beach at all but talk about ESCAPE early in the morning then it's the BEST! Prepare around P50 for transpo and entrance.

High Ridge in CDO is of course the BEST ESCAPE (a 4-hour vacation lugar) since it provides the (as in THE) fresh air you'd want to BREATHE IN. Overlooking is the whole city so it adds up to the sweetness of it all (haha romantic kuno).

These photos were taken like last year. I was way too thin back then and now I'm proud to be growing, and growing, and growing...Hhhhmmm I certainly would want to have photos of the BETTER LOOKING ME (body-wise haha) in these places.Say...w/o a shirt ahaha!Joke lang!

Brewing only in CDO: Casual Brew

I made an honest mistake in my 'fave coffee shop' poll. I missed to include 2 famous coffee shops in Cagayan De Oro. So as a consolation, let me bring you around the 1st Coffee Shop my friends and I loved.

FOUND: Real BOMBS in MINDANAO (SM Cagayan De Oro)

I found the real BOMBS in Mindanao last August 22 when the chaos between AFP and MILF was ongoing.

Reality dictates that it's not so safe here in Mindanao lately. It's chaotic. What saddens me the most is that even in the middle of all these, people can still afford to pass on the blame. From senators questioning the move of the Head of the State to provincial counselors blaming the Philippine Army. It's chaotic literally.

Last night, I was in SM Cagayan De Oro for an appointment when the armies with their 'armalayts' (guns) started walking around outside the mall. My initial reaction was practical, I wanted to go home. But we found out that they were actually from the battlefield who were relocated for the meantime. And they just wanted to dropby at SM to experience civilization and just have fun for a while.

I wanted to approach them one by one and really thank them for doing their job,

Sadly, they weren't allowed to get inside the mall. REALLY SAD! We asked the guards why and found out that they're not allowed to get inside with their armors.

THEY're THE REAL 'BOMBS' in MINDANAO.
Bomb as in the expression describing them as GREAT MEN. I understand why their head walked out last two days while being interrogated. Are we so insensitive that we don't acknowledge their deeds at all?

SALUTE to all those who did their jobs as SOLDIERS protecting the people in the affected Mindanao areas!

Coffee Mate in CoffeeWorks

Been a long time since I hanged out w/ Coffee Mate/s...
Hhhmmm... I miss the aroma of Coffee Bean's Caramelatte/Macadamia... The minted Cafe Mocha of Starbucks... and some others...

I've been looking for Coffee Mates since I got back here in Cagayan De Oro who'd share my passion for coffee and chilling out. Not that I don't have friends but I could hardly find people who crave for highly sensationalized coffee aside from 3 in 1. Just last two weeks, out of sheer luck I guess, I found MY COFFEE MATE finally...

Not yet a person though but COFFEE that's worth spending for in this 'oh so calm city I've come to love' -- CDO.
